Hi Jared, welcome to Morrow! Please could you tell us a bit about yourself?

Hi! I’m Jared and I’m a React Native Developer at Morrow. I live in Leicestershire and I’ve been a full-time developer for roughly 3 years now.

So you’re one week in, how has it been so far?

It’s been really good so far. It’s an incredibly friendly, supportive team. My onboarding experience was super smooth. I’ve already gotten stuck into some really interesting work on an impressive client product and feel that I’ve got everything I need to do great work.

What was your primary motivation for joining Morrow?

I knew of Morrow when we were still App Sapiens. I wanted to get back into React Native as it’s easily my favourite framework and appeals to my visual style. The more I looked into Morrow’s culture and style it became the only place I wanted to work, so I jumped at the chance to join when it came. I can’t stress enough how great this team is. It’s clearly a great place to work. The world needs more future-looking, agile businesses who are fully embracing the new way of working.

What do you bring to the team in terms of skills and traits?

I’m hoping to bring my knowledge in great user experience, and my passion for building slick frontend interfaces. I’m a bit of a perfectionist and will deliberate (obsess) over small details probably more than I should - I guess it’s up to you whether that’s a good or bad thing!

What’s your favourite app and why?

There’s a game on Apple Arcade called Mini Motorways and I’m all about the visual aesthetic of that app. Their design language is top-notch and I love the main menu. Nothing better than an app that pays attention to the experience, no matter where the user is in their journey.

What’s your home working setup like? Any tips?

I’ve been working from home since March 2020, and you’d think that was enough time to figure out my ideal set up, but honestly it adapts to how present I need to be in family life at any given moment. My tip would be to keep it simple, though. Clear away clutter, minimise distractions. Get a good speaker or set of headphones for music, podcasts, radio - whatever fills the background and helps you concentrate.

How do you like to spend time outside of work?

With my family, exploring new places.
